BEARS SECURE VICTORY OVER LAFAYETTE COUNTY
The Spring Hill Bears took action on the diamond for league hosting Lafayette County Cougars on Monday night in Spring Hill, but fell on the road to Parkers Chapel Trojans over the weekend in Parkers Chapel.
In the league series finale on last Friday night, the Bears closed out their conference meeting against Parkers Chapel in a close battle. The Bears fought hard to the end, but fell short to the PC Trojans 5-4 in seven innings. PC led early with a 2-0 lead through the second inning, then scored two more runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth inning. PC maintained a 5-0 lead over Spring Hill through the fourth inning. In the fifth, the Bears rallied back sparking for one run then scored three runs in the sixth inning to hold the Trojans scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings.
In the top of the seventh, the looked to regain control for a rally, but fell short to score and the Trojans secured the one run victory for the series split. The Bears collected six total hits with four runs scored.
Blake Waller led at the plate with two hits, Will Phillips, Cam Middleton, Kaleb Blair and Wesley Featherston each had a hit apiece. Waller, Blair, Daden Reed and Josh Winfield each scored a run. Featherston collected two RBI’s, Waller and Middleton each had a RBI apiece. Waller stole two bases with Reed having one stolen base against the Trojans. At the mound, Winfield pitched four innings, struck out four batters and Waller pitched two innings and struck out one batter.
On Monday night, the Bears bounced back victorious on the diamond at home to remain unbeaten this season in Spring Hill to top the Lafayette County Cougars 8-1. The Bears will close out their season meeting match-up against the Cougars on Thursday April 13.
